Detailed Itinerary -
Day 1: Kampala - Lake Mburo Safari Park, Western Uganda
Very early in the morning our safari guide will transfer you to Lake Mburo national park. It is a 4 hours drive from Kampala. Lake Mburo National Park is an extension of the Tanzanian plains with big herds of zebra, impala, eland and other ungulates. The park is also famous for bird watching. Enjoy an afternoon boat cruise along Lake Mburo with opportunities of viewing the numerous hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, and water birds on this lake. Dinner and overnight in Mantana Tented Camp or similar other (FB)
Day 2: Game Viewing Safari in Lake Mburo National Park, Western Uganda
After breakfast, undertake an early game drive in the park. Return to the lodge for your lunch and later transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park via the Kigezi Highlands commonly referred to as the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ arriving in the evening at Buhoma. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort / Gorilla Forest Camp / Buhoma Community Rest Camp
Day 3 Gorilla Trekking Safari in Bwindi Gorilla Forest, South West Uganda
After an early morning breakfast hike to Buhoma – the park headquarters for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for briefing before undertaking a gorilla trek at 8.30 am. In the company of porters and rangers follow the gorilla trail deep into the lush tropical rainforest. Encountering the mountain gorillas normally takes between 2 and 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas on that particular day. You will be allowed to stay in the presence of the mountain gorillas playing and taking photographs with them.Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort / Gorilla Forest Camp / Buhoma Community Rest Camp
Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park safari, South Western Uganda
After a morning breakfast, with packed lunch, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha for viewing tree-climbing lions in the fig tree branches. Proceed to Mweya Safari Lodge for an evening boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana safari Lodge/ Hippo Hill Camp (FB)
Day 5: Wildlife Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park, South Western Uganda
Wake up for an morning game drive in search of leopards, hyenas, elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, hippos, etc. Return to the lodge for your breakfast. Relax in the swimming pool and once again undertake a game drive in the park. In the afternoon, after your lunch, you will enjoy a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel for viewing a very high concentration of wildlife along the Channel between lakes Edward and George. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana Safari Lodge/Hippo Hill Camp (FB)
Day 6: Kibale Chimpanzee Forest
After breakfast, transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. Leave Queen Elizabeth national park via the Northern Crater Area, with beautiful lake and rich grasslands stretching deep in the crater valley; this is the most breathtaking scenery in the park. Make a stop-over in Fort Portal for your lunch. Overnight at Chimp's Nest Lodge/Mountains of the Moon Hotel
Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking tour in Kibale Forest
After breakfast transfer to Kanyanchu the park headquarters for chimpanzee tracking that begins at 08.00 am.The habituated chimps are delightful apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature. There is tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees. Kibale Forest is home to over 13 species of primates including red Colobus monkey, the rare L’Hoest’s, blue monkey, grey mangabey, pottos, black-faced vervet monkeys, baboons and also bush babies. For botanists and butterfly lovers this is one of the best places to visit in Africa. Birders are in for a treat with 335 species recorded including the endemic Prirogrine’s ground thrush. If you are still energetic in the afternoon, you will go for a guided walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary to look for different bird species like the Shining Blue Kingfisher, Blue-throated Roller including Narina Trogon, Pied Hornbill, Yellow Spotted, Hairy Breasted and Yellow-Billed Barbets. Day 8: Transfer to Kampala
After breakfast drive back to Kampala arriving early enough for your lunch. In the afternoon you may enjoy a Kampala city safari. Dinner and overnight at Hotel African / The Lodge - Kampala
