8 Days Uganda Tour - Kidepo Flying Safari, Elgon Mountain Hiking Tour, Wildlife Tour in Murchison Falls NP
This 8 day Uganda tour takes you to Mt Elgon for a mountain hiking safari, Kidepo Valley for a wildlife tour considering its unique fauna, Murchison Falls for a launch cruise to the spectacular falls, one of the best in Africa, and chimpanzee trekking safari in Kaniyo Pabidi part of Budongo forest.
ITINERARY
DAY 1- Elgon Mountaineering Tour
After breakfast our tour guide will transfer you to Eastern Uganda at Mt Elgon. Right away start with a visit to Kitum Cave with overhanging crystalline walls that enter 200 m into the side of Mt. Elgon. Dinner and over night at Sipi Falls Rest Camp
Day 2 - Mountain hiking
Take your breakfast and climb the highest peak of Mt. Elgon, Koitoboss, 13,852 ft (4,155 m), which is easily accessible by hikers in about 2 hours from the road's end. Then follow vehicle circuits leading you to panoramic views where various animals including elephants, blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and tree squirrels. In the evening visit the Sipi Falls. Dinner and overnight at Sipi Falls Rest Camp
Day 3- Kidepo valley national park
After breakfast transfer to Kidepo national park arriving early enough for your lunch at Apoka Lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy panoramic views of the Narus River Valley and enjoy wildlife from the verandah of the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Apoka Safari Lodge
Day 4 – Kidepo Wildlife Tour
After an early breakfast, go for morning game drive to Kanangorok hot spring. Kidepo Valley national harbours a total of 86 mammal species, making it the third highest in Uganda, the park also protects a far greater variety of large mammals than any other national park, including 28 species found nowhere else in Uganda. The bird checklist of 463 confirmed and 26 species unconfirmed is second only to Queen Elizabeth national park.
After lunch at the lodge move to Karenna and Kapedo for a cultural experience by the Karamajong people. Dinner and overnight at Apoka Safari Lodge
Day 5: Fly to Kampala from Kidepo
Our company driver will pick you from the airport to Kampala. After your lunch enjoy a city tour of Kampala. Dinner and overnight at Speke Hotel or similar other
Day 6 - Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, in the company of our tour guide, you will transfer by road to Murchison Falls National Park en route visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary so that you can have a glimpse of the few endangered white and black rhinos in a semi-natural environment. Arrive at the top of the falls in the evening and cross by a ferry to Paraa Safari Lodge.
Dinner and overnight: Paraa Safari Lodge/Budget Red Chili Camp (FB)
Day 6- Murchison Falls National Park tour
After breakfast, transfer to Kaniyo Pabidi Forest in Budongo Forest for chimpanzee tracking. The forest is also famous for many forest birds including the chocolates-backed Kingfisher, chestnut-winged starling, Narina Trogon, white-thighed hornbill and puvel's illadopsis found nowhere else in East Africa. Return to the lodge for your lunch. In the afternoon enjoy a boat cruise to the bottom of Murchison falls. The launch trip to the base of the falls is the highlight of most trips to Murchison Falls, but the boat cruise downriver from Paraa towards the Lake Albert delta is preferred by birdwatchers, since it offers the best opportunity to see shoebills anywhere in Africa, especially during rainy season. Game viewing in this trip is excellent. You will be able to see hippos in hundreds, some of the largest crocodiles left in Africa, small herds of buffalo, waterbuck and kob, giraffe, bushbuck, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Elephants are seen playing in the water, often with a few metres of the launch, and fortunate visitors can even see alion or a leopard.
Day 7: Murchison Falls game drives
After a morning breakfast, undertake a game drive to the north of the River Nile following delta tracks that runs west from the ferry jet at Paraa to the Lake Albert Delta. This is a 20 km2 of grassland fringing the delta formed by the Victoria Nile as it flows into Lake Albert. The concentration of wildlife around the delta is overwhelming.
Day 8: Return to Kampala
After a morning game drive return to Kampala by either a chartered flight or by road.
