8 Days Gorilla Safari – Murchison, Kibale, Queen & Bwindi Tour, Uganda Safaris
Day 1: Kampala to Murchison
In the morning drive to Murchison falls national park with lunch en route in Masindi. Thence proceed to the top of the falls – a spot where the mighty Nile compressing itself in a gap of 1 km while squeezing through a 7 meter canyon translating into a spectacular fall dropping 45 meters with a thunderous roar creating a beautiful rainbow and a plume of spray. Dinner and Overnight accommodation at Paraa Safari Lodge or Nile Safari Camp/Red Chili (FB)
Day 2: Murchison Falls National park wildlife safari
Start a morning game drive to the northern banks of the placid Victoria Nile. Expect to see animals which include elephants, Oribi, Rothschild’s giraffe, lions, Cape buffalo, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyena, bushbucks and leopards. Return to the lodge for your lunch. In the afternoon embark on a launch cruise upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls. As you cruise, marvel at the toothsome hippos, the Nile crocodiles and a plethora of birds along the river banks. Expect bird species such as the Goliath heron, hornbill, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, cormorants and the rare shoebill. Day 3: Murchison Falls To Fort portal
After breakfast, drive southwards via Hoima to Fort Portal at the foothills of the Rwenzori mountains traversing the verdant countryside filled with interesting scenery of the Albertine rift including the past traditional homesteads and farms along Albertine Rift escarpments. Arrive in Fort Portal by evening, check in at Ndali Lodge / Mantana Tented Camp /Rwenzori View Guest House/ Primate Lodge Kibale Bandas/Mountains of the Moon
Day 4: Kibale & Queen Elizabeth National parks
After an early breakfast, drive to Kanyanchu Tourist Centre for briefing and then begin the chimp trekking in the lush rainforest. Kibale tropical rain forest hosts more than 13 primate species including the rare L’Hoest’s, red colobus, blue monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked Mangabeys, etc. The local guide will from time to time give informative explanations not only on primates but also on all the forest fauna and flora. After lunch, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park at the foothills of the mystical Mountains of the moon. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Lodge/Jacana safari Lodge
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park
In the morning go for a game drive within the park through its diverse ecosystems which harbor a variety of wildlife including lions, cape buffaloes, Defassa waterbuck, giant forest hogs, leopards, Uganda Kob, elephants, Topi and bush bucks, among others. In the afternoon, after lunch, a launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel is one of the highlights of this Uganda safari. This trip not only passes through the highest concentration of hippos but also offer an excellent platform for bird watching, game viewing and photography. Undertake an evening game drive before retiring for dinner and overnight at Mweya Lodge/Jacana safari lodge (FB)
Day 6: Game drive through Ishasha (for tree climbing lions)
After breakfast drive via Ishasha – the southern sector of QENP in search of tree-climbing lions. From there proceed to Bwindi national park. Dinner and over night at Gorilla Forest Camp / Mantana Tented Camp/ Buhoma Homestead / Buhoma Community Bandas (FB)
Day 7: Gorilla tracking safari
After an early breakfast walk to the Gorilla Tourist Centre for a short briefing on how you will conduct the gorilla trekking. The game rangers will lead you inside the deep moist forest to see the charming and shy rare Mountain Gorilla. Gorilla trekking is possibly one of the most thrilling wildlife experiences on earth since there are only 720 mountain gorillas remaining in the World! This gorilla trek usually takes between 2 and 8 hours. In the evening make a community visit or go for a guided nature walk in search of birds and butterflies. Dinner and over night at Gorilla Forest Camp / Mantana Tented Camp/ Buhoma Homestead / Buhoma Community Bandas
Day 8: Return to Kampala
After breakfast transfer to Kampala making a stopover at Mbarara for your lunch, then proceed to the Equator for photographs arriving in Kampala in the evening.
