3 Days Serengeti Flying Safari
The 3 Days flying safari offers the opportunity to explore the best this park has to offer.
Serengeti National park is Tanzania's oldest park and remains the flagship of the countrys tourism industry. It provides the major draw to the Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit, encompassing other parks such as Lake Manyara, Tarangire and Arusha national parks, as well as Ngorongoro Conservation Area. At Africa Adventure Safaris, we organize different safaris to Serengeti National Park. These trips include flying safaris, road trips and other adventures combining more national parks in the Northern Tanzania.
Serengeti National Park covers 14,763 km (5,700 square miles) of grassland plains and savanna, riverine forest and woodlands. It is located in northern Tanzania, bordered to the north by the national Tanzania and Kenyan border, where it is continuous with the Masai Mara National Park in Kenya, and Ngorongoro Conservation Area in south east.
Serengeti National Park is famous for the annual migration of 1.5 Million wildebeests and 250,000 Zebras and gazelles. The park is also well known for its healthy stock of other resident wildlife, particularly the "Big Five"; African Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino. The Serengeti National Park is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. Current records show that, the park inhabits over 3000 lion living in this ecosystem.
The reclusive predators (Leopard) are commonly seen in the Seronera region with the currently population of about 1000. The Black Rhinoceros are mainly found around the kopjes in the centre of the park, very few individuals remain due to rampant poaching. African Buffalo on the other hand is still abundant and present in healthy numbers, but numbers have been somewhat reduced due to disease.
Additionally, Serengeti plains also support many further species, including impala, Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, waterbuck, cheetah, topi, eland, African wild dog, hyena, baboon, and giraffe among others. Bird life is prolific with over 500 species that include martial eagle, Kori bustard, ostrich, crowned crane, secretary bird and marabou stork, lovebirds and many species of vultures.
