Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala to Murchison Falls national Park Murchison Falls National Park
Undertake a 4 – 6 hours drive from Kampala to Murchison Falls national park en route visiting the 70 sq km Zziwa rhino sanctuary. Arrive at the top of the falls as you marvel at the Nile’s beauty perfected as you watch the Nile water fall into a 45 meter plunge, forming a plume of rainbow. Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lodge
Day 2: Murchison Wildlife viewing
Early in the morning, undertake a game drive expecting to see buffaloes, Giraffes, Lions, Elephants, baboons, and numerous antelopes species among others. In the afternoon enjoy a launch cruise along the Victoria Nile upstream to the base of the Murchison Falls. Along the river banks expect to see schools of hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks and a plethora of birds. Access the “Devils Cauldron” where you will take a clear view of the spectacular falls. Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lodge
Day 3: Murchison - Kibale National Park Uganda (7-8 hours drive)
With packed lunch transfer to Kibale Forest national park traversing the verdant countryside and the Albertine Escarpment and arrive in Fort Portal at the base of the Rwenzoris. Overnight at Mountains Of the Moon/ Chimp Nest Lodge
Day 4 Chimpanzee tracking
Take an early morning breakfast and go for chimp trekking in Kibale Forest National Park. The forest harbors more than 13 primate species, the highest number compared to other national parks in Africa. After lunch transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park with a game drive up to Mweya Safari Lodge.Overnight at Mountains Of the Moon/ Chimp Nest Lodge
Day 5: QENP wildlife safari
Undertake a game drive along Kasenyi Track in search for the early risers and predators as they return to their hide-outs. Expect to encounter hyenas, leopards, lions, jackals, buffaloes, elephants, and different antelope species among others. Return to the lodge for breakfast and later transfer to Maramagambo forest excellent birding, primates tracking and visiting the bat cave and the blue Crater Lake. The prolific bird life is astonishing with well over 550 resident species. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/ Hippo Hill Camp
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
After breakfast drive through the Ishasha southern sector of QENP for viewing tree-climbing lions. Arrive in Bwindi for an evening community walk to the Pygmy group of people for cultural performances. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort Camp or Lake Kitandara tented camp or Buhoma Rest camp
Day 7: gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest
Very early in the morning after your breakfast meet a UWA game ranger for briefing on how the gorilla trekking will be conducted. The time taken to encounter the mountain gorillas ranges between 2 – 10 hours. Gorilla tracking is so far the most captivating wildlife activity in Africa basing on many visitors’ confessions after the activity. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort Camp or Lake Kitandara tented camp or Buhoma Rest camp
Day 8: Transfer to Kisoro
After breakfast, transfer to Kisoro, making a stop-over at the Kanaba gap to view the Virunga volcanoes and the terraced hills. Pay a visit to Lake Mutanda. Dinner and over night at Budget – Nkuringo safari Centre, moderate – Travelers Rest Kisoro / Nkuringo Safari Lodge, up market – Clouds Lodge
Day 9: Spend this on gorilla tracking (optional at US$ 500- subject to booking in advance). Other activities may include birding, caving, hill hiking, and caldera climbing or visiting the Batwa Community for cultural dance. Dinner and overnight Travelers Rest Kisoro / Nkuringo Safari Lodge, up market – Clouds Lodge
Day 10: Kisoro to Lake Mburo NP
Very early in the morning, take breakfast and transfer to Lake Mburo national park. This is a 4 to 5 hours drive. Make a stop-over in Mbarara for lunch and proceed to Lake Mburo national park for an afternoon game drive. Expect to see the zebras, topis, elephants, elands, impalas, buffaloes, antelopes and different bird species, etc. Dinner and overnight at Lake View Hotel / Mantana Luxury tented Camp
Day 11: Lake Mburo - Ssese Islands in Lake Victoria
After breakfast transfer to the Ssese Islands via Masaka and arrive on time for the Bukakata ferry destined for Bugala Island. Dinner and overnight at Ssese Palm Beach Resort/ Ssese habitat Resort / Mirembe Resort
Day 12: Ssese Island beaches
Wake up to the stunning sunrise and after your breakfast embark on a morning forest walk as you encounter different bird and primate species. Expect to see different primates like monkeys, a prolific variety of water and forest birds including Hornbills, Turaco, Flycatchers, weavers, Fish Eagles, and a variety of colorful butterflies. In the afternoon enjoy a motorized boat cruise to Busaka for bird watching in the vicinity at the water fall. Relax on the white sand beaches at the Island.
Day 13 Transfer to Entebbe
After breakfast, transfer by a ferry to Entebbe in preparation for your scheduled flight on this day.
