GorillaTracking / Trekking at Bwindi National Park- Uganda

3 Days Uganda Gorilla trekking safari

Shared by three district:- Kabale, Kanungu and Kisoro, the park is located in the South Western Uganda on the edge of the western rift valley. Bwindi is blessed with over 330 endangered Mountain Gorillas which are relatively the most awesome animals to be found in Africa .There are also 346 species of birds and over 200 species of butterflies. The major tourist activity is Gorilla trekking / tracking. Bwindi Rain Forest has four groups currently available on a daily basis for tourists. Nkuringo group (19 gorillas , 2 silver backs ) was opened for tourism in April 2004; Rusheguru group(10 members, 1silver back) was opened in July 2002;  whereas   Habiyanja group (18 gorillas, 2 silver backs) was ready in July 1998 and  Mubare group (10 gorillas; 1 silverback) was opened for tourism in 1993. Physical fitness is a requirement because Gorilla tracking in Bwindi can be quite challenging. The activity starts at 8:30a.m. local time and can last from a few hours to a whole day depending on the movement of these giant apes.

THREE DAYS’ GORILLA TOUR.

DAY 1.
Start the journey at 7:00am and drive towards western Uganda. A stop-over at the Equator is not obligatory but allows time for photographs.  This route offers panoramic views of the rolling hills and terraced landscapes, long horned Ankole cattle of the region, and beautiful contour-cultivated highlands that are part of Kabale District. Have your lunch en route and then drive directly to the park arriving late in the evening.

Spend a night at Gorilla Resort Camp/ Lake Kitandara tents (mid-range)/ Buhoma Community bandas (budget).  

DAY 2.
Have an early breakfast and a briefing by the guide. Then set off for your Gorilla tracking activity in the Bwindi forest. Gorilla tracking can be exhausting. You will need to carry drinking water and packed lunch. Put on comfortable boots or jungle shoes suitable for steep muddy slopes and carry with you a rain jacket. For those who feel uncomfortable with jungle sounds put on ear plugs. For those who require walking sticks, they will be availed by the park rangers.

Dinner and a night at Gorilla Resort Camp/ Lake Kitandara camp (mid-range)/Buhoma community bandas.

 

DAY 3.
After a heavy breakfast, you can now se-off for Kampala. You can have lunch en route at either Mbarara or Masaka and arrive in Kampala before 4.00 p.m local time.

Have a dinner and an overnight at Speke Hotel / Serena Hotel / Hotel Diplomate (Full Board)
