Areas of acacia forests, bush, grassland, euphorbia and rocky cliffs support a variety of bird and animal species. Around the water places you will be able to see waterbucks and buffaloes; whereas reedbucks and Thomsons Gazelles are common in the bush. Leopards can be seen occasionally. The cliffs support hyraxes and birds of prey amidst thousands of baboons. At the northern shore of Lake Nakuru you can see herds of hippos; and the southern end of the lake support white rhinos. The black rhinos, browsers by nature, are quite scarce. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge (top-end)/Naishi House Banda (mid-range)/Backpackers Campsite (Budget)

In the recent years Lake Bogoria has been the dominant home for flamingoes with a migrant population of up to 2 million birds. For enthusiastic ornithologists, Kesubo Swamp, north of the park, is a haven for more than 200 bird species, holding the Kenyan record for the biggest number of species seen in an hour (96!).
