12 DAY'S PRIMATES EXPLORING TOUR IN UGANDA

Day One: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Our tour guide will welcome and transfer you to a hotel of your choice in either Entebbe or Kampala. In case you arrive early, a city tour can be organised for you. Places to visit may include:- Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, Kasubi Tombs, and the Uganda museum among others, or the Ndere cultural center for an evening in the cultural dances.

Spend a night at Speke Hotel Kampala / Hotel Africana for excellent services. Kibale Chimps

Day Two:
Before 7.00 am take breakfast and immediately transfer to Kibale Forest National Park taking lunch en route in Fort Portal. In the afternoon take a walk in Bigodi swamp to search for a variety of bird species like the White-winged Warbler, Papyrus Gonolek and many more not forgetting the flora.  

Have dinner and spend the night at Luxury-Ndali safari lodge /Mid range- Rwenzori View Guest House / Basic- Kanyankyu ecological site.

Day Three:
After a cup of tea in the early morning, set off for a nature walk in Kibale forest national park that is commonly accepted for a exceptional diversity of primates in the Great Lakes region. Take the walk in the tropical rainforest to hunt for wild chimpanzees with trained guides. After lunch transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park passing through the crater lakes region with over 30 crater lakes.

Retire for dinner and an overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge

Day Four:
Early in the morning, embark on a game drive to search for the early risers and predators returning to their hide outs. This drive will reward you with animals such as:- Elephants, Buffaloes, Hyenas, Hippos, not forgetting the King of the Jungle- the Lion and many more. After the game drive take a late breakfast, relax in the swimming pool as you prepare for lunch at Mweya Safari Lodge. In the afternoon go for a launch cruise on the Kanzinga channel to view a number of Hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes and a variety of bird species both migrant and resident. 

Spend an overnight at Luxury -Mweya Safari Lodge / Jacana Safari Lodge/ Lake Kitandara camp (mid-range)/ Budget- Institute of Ecology.

Day Five:
Early in the morning after a cup of coffee/Tea drive south east of the park to Maramagambo forest for a walk to view the bat and the hunter’s caves. Visit the blue lake and get a close look at a number of bats, the rock Pythons and the forest Cobras.Return to the Hotel for an early lunch and later proceed to Kyambura gorge. Go tracking the chimps and various monkey species in the Kyambura Gorge. This walk rewards you with a view of a great number of primates such as chimpanzees, Black and white Colobus monkeys and other animals like antelopes, water birds like the flamingos. Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi where you will reach in the early evening for birding.

Spend the night at Lake Bunyonyi Overland Camp / Crater Bay Cottages.

Day Six:
After breakfast go for a ride on Lake Bunyonyi in dug out canoes. Dotted with at least 20 small islands and encircled by steep terraced hills, Bunyonyi is a magical spot worth exploring. After the boat cruise have lunch and embark on any activity of your choice such as a swimming, leisure walks and mountain biking - with bikes available at the camps for hire.

Have dinner and spend the night at Bushara Island Camp/ Lake Bunyonyi Overland Camp / Crater Bay Cottages.

Day Seven:
Early morning, drive to Bwindi and arrive at 8.00 am. Relax, have lunch, dinner and spend a night at Lake Kitandara luxury tented camp or Basic - Buhoma community bandas.  You may opt for Buhoma Village walk.

Day Eight:
After a breifing at the park headquarters go gorilla tracking in the Bwindi Impenetrable forest. Gorilla tracking being  unpredictable, it is difficult to estimate how long you may take in the jungle. However the excursion may take 2 - 8 hours depending on the movement of these primates. It is therefore advisable to have packed lunch. It all depends on the movement of these great apes. However despite the hardships involved in trying to track the apes, "The exhilaration of seeing the gorillas makes it all worthwhile!”.  Have dinner and a night at Lake Kitandara luxury tented accommodation or Basic - Buhoma community bandas.

Day Nine:
After an early breakfast head to Lake Mburo National Park and arrive in the evening. In the evening take a game drive in search for:- Buffaloes, Topis, Waterbuck and the Eland, (the largest of the Antelopes found in Uganda). Spend the night at Luxury- Mantana Luxury Tented Camp.

Day Ten:
Take an early morning game drive to catch up with the early risers and predators returning to their hide outs. Retire for a late breakfast at the camp. In the afternoon head to Kampala and make a stop-over at the Equator for photographs and handicrafts. You will be able to arrive in Kampala city by evening.

Day Eleven:
After breakfast explore the Uganda’s capital city. Visit the biggest and only religious temple building of its kind in Africa –the Bahai temple: it is a good site for a picnic, with a good scenery, placed rightly on the hill that gives you a view of the city.

Pass by Makerere University the oldest university in Africa as you leave the Temple. Then proceed to the Uganda meuseum – a historical feature with lots of colonial, cultural and traditional collections. You may decide to pass by Kasubi tombs - the largest vault in Africa and special burial place for Uganda kings with the largest Banda in the whole world. You will be given a brief history about the tombs by the guides at the tombs. You can have your dinner at hotel diplomat before going back to your Hotel. Here you will have a clear view of the 6 hills of Kampala.

Day Twelve: Departure
Depending on the time of your flight, you may visit the Botanical Gardens for birding and the Uganda Wildlife Centre (the Zoo). Then spare an hour for your transfer to the Airport for your flight back home.
