Uganda Gorilla Safaris – 8 Days Gorilla Safari Tour
This Uganda trip focuses on gorilla tracking, game drives and chimpanzee tracking tours in Uganda’s national parks.
Day 1: Arrival in Uganda
On arrival at the airport, you will be picked and taken by our tour guide to your a Hotel of your choice in Kampala. Then enjoy a city tour of Kampala. Visit some exciting places in Kampala including Kasubi Tombs, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, museum, etc. Dinner and overnight at Speke Hotel Kampala /Hotel Africana (FB)
Day 2: Kampala - Bwindi
After breakfast depart by road to Bwindi Gorilla Forest. Make a stop-over at the crafts village at the equator for shopping and photography at the Equator. Proceed to Mbarara for lunch and later pass through the lush mountain country that is, the "Little Switzerland of Uganda". Arrive in Bwindi in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Kitandara Tented Lodge (Luxury) or Buhoma community Bandas (Basic)
Day 3: Bwindi Gorilla Tour
After an early morning breakfast, with your packed lunch, go for a briefing at 08:00 hours. Normally the time taken to encounter mountain gorillas ranges between 2 to 8 hours. Be prepared to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. Despite all these hurdles, mountain gorilla tracking is the most exciting wildlife experience for any holiday maker in Africa. For conservation reasons, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. Later return for dinner and overnight at Lake Kitandara Tented accommodation (Luxury) or Buhoma community Bandas (Basic)
Day 4: Bwindi – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Drive via Ishasha for viewing the tree-climbing lions in the the fig tree branches.
Arrive at Mweya Safari Lodge for your lunch. In the afternoon at 2.00 pm enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. When it is hot, large herds of elephants, buffaloes and bushbucks make their way to the banks of Kazinga Channel. A boat cruise along the hippo-crowded Channel between Lakes Edward and George offers a unique unequalled wildlife experience. Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge/Jacana safari Lodge for luxury or Institute of Ecology for basic accommodation
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Tour
At 0600hours, undertake a game drive in the Northern parts of the park along the Kasenyi track. This is the best time for viewing the cats in action, Lions, Leopards, Giant Forest Hogs, Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Defassa Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Topi and Bush bucks and many more. After lunch return to the wilderness for more game viewing. For birders the prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous with well over 550 resident species recorded making it a magnet for bird watchers. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge/Jacana safari Lodge for luxury or Institute of Ecology for basic accommodation
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth – Kibale national park
After breakfast explore Kyambura Wildlife Reserve. Adventure the spectacular Kyambura River Gorge for tracking habituated chimps in the lush rain forest. Then proceed to Kibale Forest with lunch en route in Kasese town. Dinner and overnight at Ndali safari Lodge (Luxury) or Kanyancu Ecological site(Basic)
Day 7: Chimpanzee Trekking
After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for briefing at 8.00 am before undertaking chimp trekking in Kibale Forest. This park is known for the highest number of primate species in Africa. The activity takes 2 - 3 hours searching for chimpanzees and other primates including L’Hoest’s, Red-Colobus, Blue, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabeys swinging through the dense forest. Kibale forest harbours over 335 species of birds; butterflies and many small insects. The guide will offer detailed explanations on not only primates, but also on all the forest's fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. A visit to Bigodi swamp eco-tourism site is interesting, as you shall encounter rare and beautiful flora and fauna. Dinner and overnight at Ndali safari Lodge (Luxury) or Kanyancu Ecological Site (Basic)
Day 8: Return to Kampala
After breakfast drive back to Kampala. Arrive early enough for your lunch. Depending on flight schedule, our driver may transfer you to the airport for a flight to your next destination.
