8 DAYS UGANDA SAFARIS TO MOUNT ELGON -HIKING SAFARI
Uganda Mountain Hiking Tour Courtesy of Africa Adventure Tours
Being easy to climb Mt Elgon hiking does not require any specialized equipment or skills to reach the peak apart from physical fitness. Mt Elgon is not so high that there is a serious risk of altitude- related illnesses that regularly troubles hikers on other Mountains like Kilimanjaro or Kenya. Elgon is easy to climb and can be climbed at any time of the year, though the dry seasons are better (June-August and December-March)-November and December are the best times given the fact that it is when the highland flowers are in blosom - making it the best time for the shots and scenery view. The Mountain has a Fall called Sipi where the Sipi River rises on the upper slopes of Mt Elgon prior to flowing down the foothills over 8km to form a series of four beautiful waterfalls concluding in a 99m drop at an altitude of 1,775m outside the small trading centre of Sipi.
