A Day's Safari to Mabamba Swamp- Ngamba Island
Day 1
Early in the morning after breakfast head to Mabamba swamp wetland of Mpigi to have a view of excellent selection of water-associated species and is also the most reliable place for shoebill sighting. You will also go for a dug-out trip in the swamp usually capable of locating shoebills- even though you are out of luck on that score it’s a lovely, mellow boat trip, and other localized birds such as pygmy goose, gull-billed, blue- breasted bee eater and the papyrus-specific Carruthers’s cisticola and white-winged warbler. Have a lunch picnic before you drive south east of Entebbe to Ngamba Island -the chimpanzee sanctuary to have a view of the living relatives of man. At Ngamba expect to see some of the 154 bird species. Drive back to Kampala to dine and spend the night at Hotel Africana/ Speke Hotel or Hotel Diplomat for a panoramic view of the six hills of Kampala.
