7 Days BIRDING SAFARI IN:QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK AND LAKE BUNYONYI
Day 1: ARRIVAL
Arrive at Entebbe International airport to be welcomed by a representative of Africa Adventure safaris who will transfer you to your Hotel.  You will then be taken to Uganda Wildlife Education formerly known as the Uganda zoo - a home of captive animals and birds to get an introduction to the birds of Uganda. The place is known to have over 170 bird species that include weavers like Orange weaver.

Dinner and overnight at Hotel Africana / Speke hotel.

Day 2: KAMPALA – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park to stop at the Equator for photographs. Have a stop-over for lunch in Mbarara and proceed to the southwest heading towards the western rift valley.  After lunch in Mbarara we continue to the southwest and head for the Western Rift Valley. Upon arrival in  the park you will go for a game drive in the Mweya peninsula to search for birds like croaking Cisticola, Marsh Tshagra and harriers such as Pallid.

Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari lodges.

Day 3: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Smile for the new day with a cup of coffee as you set off for an early morning game drive to search for birds.  Drive towards Lake Kikorongo and the Kasenyi track that passes through the grass plains which support large numbers of storks. Watch out for birds Saddle billed stork, raptors- Bateleur, and eagles-brown snake eagle. Retire from the game drive for lunch at the lodge and then in the afternoon embark on a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel to search for water birds and you will also look out for animals such as hippos Buffaloes.  The channel is a natural magnet for water birds that harbours a variety of species migrant and residents including  Great white and Pink –backed pelicans, Long-tailed cormorants, common squacco Heron, African fish eagle, white winged terns, Spotted Redshank and many others.

Retire for dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari lodge.

Day 4: QUEEN ELIZABETH – LAKE BUNYONYI
After breakfast, drive off to Lake Buyonyi the “Little Switzerland of Uganda” also referred to as the place of small birds though even large birds are present to be transferred  to Bushara Island  . Buyonyi is the deepest Lake in Uganda. Watch out for birds like cranes, herons and egrets.

Dinner and overnight at Bushara Island Camp.

Day 5: LAKE BUNYONYI

Go for a dug-out canoe ride on the lake to explore the surrounding water surfaces and small islands that are rich in bird life. Retire from the boat ride for lunch and in the afternoon embark on a walk in Mukoni village.  The walk offers a panoramic view of of small farms as you search for birds. Expect to see over 40 bird species on this walk including Swamp flycatchers, Scarlet-chested, bronze and Red-chested sunbirds, White headed saw-wing and many others.

Return to Bushara Island camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: LAKE BUNYONYI – KAMPALA

Early after breakfast, return to Kampala, with lunch en route. The drive takes about 7 hours but runs through a beautiful countryside. You will arrive late in the afternoon to dine and spend the night in Hotel Africana / Sheraton Hotel.

Day 7: DEPARTURE

Depending on the time of departure, you may go to the botanical gardens for a last look at the birds of the Pearl of Africa before you live. This gives you a general view of the birds of Uganda. You will then be transferred to the air port to catch your flight.
