2 Days Birding Safari in Uganda
Day 1
Very early in the morning after breakfast, you will be picked by our representative from your Hotel to head to the Botanical gardens. These gardens lie on the shores of African greatest Lake Victoria. They provide a great introduction to the birds of Uganda. At the entrance of the gardens watch out for Verreaux’ eagle Owls. Spend the whole day in the gardens searching for birds like Red chested sunbirds, Jackson’s golden backed weaver, and Vieillot’s black weaver. On the lake shores watch out for birds like long tailed cormorant, Hamerkop, African open billed stork, Black headed Herons, Various terns and Kingfishers. Lunch picnic in the gardens. Dinner and overnight at the Botanical beach hotel / Imperial resort beach.
Day 2
After breakfast, drive to Mabamba wetland in the village of Mabamba where the name of the wetland in derived. Have a walk along the loops that move westwards and reconnect with the main road after. You may also go for dugout canoe ride on the shoes to check birds along the shores. Watch out for birds like grey headed gull, the rare shoe bill, Yellow billed egret, white winged terns, Madagascar bee-eater, long toed plover and others. After birding drive back to Kampala to reach in the Late evening. Dinner and overnight at Sheraton Hotel/ Hotel Africana.
