Day 1: Lake Mburo Birding Trip
After breakfast you will be picked by our representative from you Hotel and be transfered to Lake Mburo National park. The park has over 310 bird species recorded. It is probably the best place in Uganda to see acacia-associated birds - mosque swallows black-bellied bustard, bare-faced go-away bird and Ruppells long-tailed sterling. Also of special interest to birders are the swamps: six papyrus endemics occur here - papyrus gonolek and the highly localized papyrus yellow warbler recorded nowhere else in Uganda. Have lunch and then in the afternoon drive along Lake side Track and Kigambira Loop in search of savanna and acacia species such as Nubian Woodpecker, Blue-naped Mouse bird, Spot-flanked Barbet, Northern Black Tit, Green-capped Eremomela, Red-headed Lovebird, Ross Turaco and many more. Dinner and overnight at Mantana Tented Camp / Rwonyo Camp
Day 2: Lake Mburo Birdwatching
Take breakfast and go for a forest walk in Rubango forest. The forest offers a variety of habitats, conducive for birds thereby making it a very attractive place for bird watchers. Look out for species such as green pigeon, Grey-backed cameroptera and double-toothed barbet, narina trogon, harrier hawk. In the afternoon you will embark on the dugout canoe ride on the lake for birding water bird species. Dinner and overnight at Mantana Tented Camp / Rwonyo Camp.
Day 3: Birding in Bwindi Forest
Early in the morning drive off to Bwindi impenetrable national park The park supports over 340 bird species, with 24 of 26 Albertine Rift Endemic species known to occur in Uganda. The park is a bird watchers asylum, not forgetting that it's also a gorilla tracking haven. You will reach Buhoma in the afternoon to bird around Buhoma area. Day 4: Birding in Mubwindi
In the morning, go along the River Ivy trail which is the longest trail in the park to Mubwindi to look out for birds like the Archers robin chat, evergreen forest warbler, Rufuos breasted Sparrow hawk, Dwarf- honey guide, Purple-breasted sunbirds, Narrow tailed and slender billed starlings, crimsonwings and many more. In the afternoon you will walk along the short trail to Mubwindi to search for birds like the Black billed Turacos, the spectacular yellow billed barbets, Wallers starling, Bar-tailed trogon, White headed wood hoopoe, Carruthers Cisticola and the localized Grauers Rush Warbler. Spend the night at a luxurious Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas (Full Board)
Day 5: Birdwatching - Queen Elizabeth national park
Wake up early for another search of the nocturnal birds, in Bwindi before you proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park. Return to the lodge for breakfast before setting off for Queen Elizabeth NP. You will reach Queen in the afternoon. Queen Elizabeth National park is another birders' paradise in Uganda with over 600 bird species. Later in the afternoon you will bird around the Mweya Peninsula to look out for wide spread grassland species such as Marsh Tshagra, croaking Cisticola, migrant harriers such as Pallid and montagus and many others. Have dinner and spend the night at luxurious Mweya Lodge/budget Institute of Ecology (FB)
Day 6: Game drive and Birding in QENP
After breakfast drive towards Lake Kikorongo and the Kasenyi track for more birding in the park. Watch out for birds like Common Squacco Heron, Glossy and sacred Ibises in the Kikorongo Area. The Kasenyi track has much to offer for birders. It passes through grassy plains which support large numbers of stork in seasons as well as raptors such as brown snaked eagle and martial eagle. Retire for lunch and in the afternoon embark on a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel to watch out for both resident and non resident species such as the African morning dove and Eurasian Honey Bizzard respectively. Expect birds like Great white and pink-backed pelicans, great and long-tailed cormorants, African open billed storks White faced whistling Duck, African wattled plovers, Malachite kingfisher, white winged terns etc. The birds surround animal species such as hippopotami and buffaloes. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 7: Birding trip in Kibale Forest national park
After an early breakfast, proceed to Kibale national park- a large protected rainforest that offers variety of bird species. You will reach in time for lunch at Ndali Safari Lodge before embarking on an afternoon birding in Bigodi wetland sanctuary and Magombe swamp. Watch out for birds like papyrus gonolek, white winged warbler, green buls Narinas trogon, various barbets, woodpeckers, blue-throated roller, grey parrot, bronze sunbird, black-crowned waxbill, grey-backed black finch, swamp flycatcher, and papyrus canary. Should there be some time in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/budget Rwenzori View guest house.
Day 8::Birding trip to Murchison Falls national park
Early after breakfast go birding in the Kanyankyu area searching for birds like African Goshawk, the majestic crowned eagle, Masked Apalis, Noisy flocks of parrots, Uganda woodland warbler, Black necked weaver. Have breakfast and pack lunch to proceed to Murchison falls National Park where you will reach late in the evening. You will then be transferred on the ferry to Paraa safari lodge for dinner and overnight. Watch out for birds enroute. Overnight at a luxurious Paraa Safari Lodge/budget Red chili camp (Full Board)
Day 9: Birding downstrean Murchison Falls
After an early morning cup of tea go for a boat cruise down stream on the Nile at 9:00am. It is advisable to sit on the left side of the boat because it offers a good view of the birds and the other animals since most of them are on the left side of the water bank on the left side. You will then retire to the Lodge for lunch and then embark on birding at Paraa, the park headquarters. Watch out for birds such as Buff-bellied Warbler, the Blue-naped Moosebird, Black-headed Batis, Black-headed Gonolek, Chestnut-crowned Sparrow-weaver, Yellow-throated Leaf love, Red-winged, White-crested Turaco and double-toothed Barbet. The Victoria Nile of the ferry, one might encounter Stanleys Bustard and Abyssinian Ground Hornbill. Dinner and overnight at a luxurious Paraa Safari Lodge/budget Red chili camp (Full Board)
Day 10: Return to Kampala
Before dusk, go for birding on the northern game viewing circuit, to search for more birds. Retire from birding to drive back to Kampala. Have a stop-over at the Equator for photographs. You will reach in the evening to dine and spend the night at Hotel Africana/ Sheraton Hotel.
